Good afternoon SVS families.

I want to take a moment to acknowledge the challenges we are all facing during the current teacher strike. We know this disruption has impacted student learning and well-being, and we deeply appreciate your patience, understanding, and continued support.

As a school community, our commitment to your children remains unwavering. We recognize how difficult it is for students to be away from their routines, their teachers, and their peers. Please know that we are thinking of them and are eager to welcome them back as soon as possible.

For the time being, please visit the labour action page for any updates. As teachers and principals will not have access to their routine communication means, this site will provide any key pieces of information for families.  What we do know is all events from Oct 6-31 are cancelled.  Decisions about future events will be made once regular operations resume.

We began the school year with such a strong and positive start, and we are optimistic that we will return shortly to continue building on that momentum however, there is no estimation of a return time at this moment. When we do, our focus will be on re-establishing a safe, welcoming, and engaging environment for all students that is aligned with the Calgary Board of Education’s well-being goals and our shared values.

We would also like to extend our heartfelt thanks to all of our families for your ongoing support during this time. Your encouragement, care, and supply of treats mean so much to our staff. A special thank you to our School Council for your continued advocacy, thoughtful communication, and commitment to our school community. Your leadership and partnership are truly appreciated.

We look forward to brighter days ahead and to seeing your children back in school soon.

Sincerely,

Chris Hooper EdD

Principal, Simons Valley School
