Good afternoon families of Simons Valley School,

We hope you are all enjoying a wonderful spring day and get an opportunity to get outside.  This was another busy week at Simons Valley School.  Today, our staff was dedicated to literacy related topics.  Our Learning Leaders, Mrs. Neumiller and Mrs. McGivern held sessions on the Science of Reading for all staff.  It was excellent and we are very grateful for their work in ensuring our students receive accurate and timely literacy support that is coordinated within and between grades.

Parent-Teacher Conferences

Each year, we set our spring school conference to be student-led.  This experience places students at the center of sharing their learnings and work pieces.  More information on the sign-up process will be shared shortly.  As per the information in the Key Dates section, you can use this time frame to plan for March 20 and 21 to visit our school and get a sense of your student’s learning journeys.

Alberta Education Assurance Survey

As part of our ongoing commitment to providing a world-class education for Alberta’s children, Alberta Education will again be conducting our annual survey of grades 4, 7 and 10 students and their parents or guardians. The survey will gather important information about students’ and parents’ school experiences and will help to inform continuous improvement in our education system. The survey will also be sent to all teachers in the province. In some schools, all students in grades 4 and above – and their parents or guardians – will be surveyed.

  • Survey Opened:  February 18, 2025 (access to online student, teacher and parent surveys).
  • Survey Closes: March 21, 2025  (all student, teacher and parent surveys close)
  • Teachers and students access the survey via our school
  • Parents/guardians can access the survey from a CBE communication

School Council Meeting in February (Feedback Session)

Our administration team will be sending a survey and collecting your feedback.  We encourage you to share your thoughts regarding school planning, which includes the school development plan, school budget, and school fees.  This will be sent in a separate message soon.

Have a great weekend,

Chris Hooper EdD
