June is National Indigenous History Month   

People in Canada celebrate National Indigenous History Month every June and recognize National Indigenous Peoples Day on June 21. These are great opportunities to acknowledge Indigenous Peoples, to learn about their histories, cultures and ways of life. 

School communities can join the celebrations this June by teaching and learning about Indigenous Peoples. Continue connecting through the year to build stronger relationships and greater understanding between Indigenous and non-Indigenous people.  
We encourage you to take some time to get curious and explore using these learning resources:

Kids Cancer Fundraiser Update 

The fundraiser is now complete and as a school we raised a whopping $8814.85! Wait to go SVS! 

Lunches and Snacks 

With students being outside more with this warmer weather, they may require more food/snacks. Please check with your child if they need more in their lunches as the school only has a limited supply of snacks. 

Casino Volunteers Needed 

Simons Valley School has been awarded another fundraising casino and it needs our parent support!  The last casino raised money so that our students could receive funding for their well-deserved activities and programs.  

Mark your Calendars: This year's casino is conveniently at Ace Casino Airport on November 15-16, and now is the time to sign up to get the volunteer position you want most.  Please have a look at the dates, times and positions found at the Sign-up Genius link below and sign up as soon as you can. You do not need a police clearance to sign up and anyone over 18 can volunteer. Feel free to recruit family, friends and neighbors!
