Happy New Year!  We hope your Winter break was full of fun with family and friends.  It was great week at SVS and our students were happy to see their friends once again as we settled back into the routine of school.

Kindergarten 2025-2026 Registration  

2025-2026 Registration begins Monday January 13. All students new to the CBE should register online https://cbe.ab.ca/registration/registration/Pages/new-students.aspx   

All students transferring to another CBE school should fill out a Transfer Form https://cbe.ab.ca/FormsManuals/Transfer-Request-K-9-Schools.pdf   

If your child will not be returning to SVS please let the office know.

Kindergarten Reporting Structure for the 2024-25 school year 

Report Cards for Kindergarten are reported via January and June report cards.  In January, progress in ELAL and Math will be communicated to parents/legal guardians via the report card.  In June, progress in all discipline areas will be communicated to parents/legal guardians via the report card.  

Safety Moment 

We had some close calls this week with morning drop off and afternoon pickup. There were some vehicles entering by the buses and travelling the opposite way in our small half-circle area. We also had reports of vehicles travelling fast in the parking lot and some near misses. To prevent head-on collisions, parking lot fender benders, and keeping our students safe, we kindly ask that you follow these rules: 

  • Students need to use the cross walks and sidewalks, no J-walking 
  • Drop off in the Kiss-n-drop zone on Sandarac Dr by the school front doors 
  • Do not enter the school parking lot or pull in front of buses 
  • Do not park where the day care parking resides (white vans) 
  • Do not enter the driveways of nearby residents 

It becomes difficult to manage these situations when there are multiple reports of unsafe driving, so we will be using the chains to close access to the parking lot to help enhance safety starting on Monday, January 13th. We will also be using some new signage which we hope will help inform drivers and keep our area safe.  Thank you for helping keep our community safe.

Volunteering and Police Information Check (PIC)   

To volunteer at SVS you need to fill out the Annual Volunteer Form on your My CBE account, under “Online Forms and School Registration”. You will also need a Valid Police Clearance that can be obtained at no cost, just upload your driver's license on the Annual Volunteer Form to get the process started. If you have any questions or need assistance, please call the office.  

2025-2026 School Calendar
