Dear Parents and Guardians,

We are excited to share that our school will be hosting a mobile sugar shack (“cabane à sucre”) experience this Friday, April 10!

This is a wonderful opportunity for students to engage with an important aspect of French-Canadian culture. Sugar shacks are a traditional celebration of the maple syrup harvest in the spring, particularly in Québec. They bring communities together to enjoy music, food, and time-honoured traditions. As part of this experience, students will learn about how maple syrup is made and will have the chance to taste a classic treat: maple taffy (tire d’érable), made by pouring hot maple syrup onto snow.

Cost:
Students will have the opportunity to enjoy a maple taffy treat as part of the experience. While a $2 contribution is appreciated, all students will receive a treat regardless of payment.

Allergen Information:
While maple syrup itself is a natural product (made of only sugar and water), the maple taffy may:

• Be prepared in an environment where nuts, dairy, wheat, soy, and other allergens are present
• Come into contact with shared surfaces or equipment 

If your student has allergies or dietary restrictions, please use your discretion and let your teacher know if you have any concerns.

If you do not want your child to consume the Maple Taffy, please reach out to their teacher before Friday.
